 All India Institute of Medical Sciences -AIIMS

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was established in 1956 and it conducted entrance test for the admission of students to the MBBS/BDS courses.

Summary:
1.      AIIMS is one of the most prestigious institutions in India. AIIMS Exam is held for the admission of students to the MBBS/BDS course offered by the institution.
2.      Age must be 17 years at the time of Entrance exam.
3.      60% marks for Gen. and 50% marks for SC/ST category.
4.      Candidates should not bring cell phone, pager, calculator or any kind of electronic gadgets etc. to the examination hall.
5.      Do not submit any document - original or photocopy - with the application.

About AIIMS:
The dreams of Jawaharlal Nehru and Amrit Kaur and the recommendations of the Bhore Committee converged to create a proposal which found favor with a generous grant from
New Zealand under the Colombo Plan made it possible to lay the foundation stone of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in 1952. The AIIMS was finally created in 1956, as an autonomous institution through an Act of Parliament.
The institute aims at providing high standard of medical education and is an institution of national importance. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences shall last for a minimum of 5½ academic years including one year's compulsory internship.

Important Dates of AIIMS:
·         Last date for Online Registration of Applications on AIIMS website www.aiimsexams.org : Last week of March
·         Status of Applications and date of hosting / uploading the Admit Cards on AIIMS website: Mid of May
·         Date of Entrance Examination:  1st June
·         Expected date of declaration of Result: 1st July

Eligibility Criteria for AIIMS:
1.      Nationality: He/ She should be a Citizen of India.
2.      Age: The candidate should have attained the age of 17 (seventeen) years as on 31st December of the year of admission and above.
3.      Qualifying Exam: Candidates should have passed 12th Class examination under 10+2 Scheme or an equivalent examination of a recognized Board with ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY.
4.      Subjects (aggregate): Candidates who have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in 4 subjects of ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY are eligible for AIIMS test. For SC/ST candidates 50% marks in aggregate of ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY.

Pattern of AIIMS Examination:
The Competitive Entrance Examination will be of 3½ hours duration and will have one paper consisting of 200 objective type (multiple choice and reason-assertion type) questions.

Note: Each correct response will get a score of (1) one mark and each incorrect response will get a score of minus-one-third negative mark. Candidates should NOT bring pen/pencil to the Examination Hall as the same will be provided by AIIMS at the examination centre for writing/marking responses on (OMR) answer sheet.

How to obtain Prospectus-cum-Application Form?
Through On-line: 
A candidate can submit application online through website: www.aiimsexams.org. The candidate can pay fee through challan in any branch of SBI. The candidates are required to bring AIIMS copy of challan form at the time of Entrance Exam along with admit card and handover the same to the Invigilator failing which they will not be allowed to enter.
Through Off-line:

a.      The Prospectus-cum-Application Form can also be obtained by Speed post/Registered post by sending a crossed Bank Draft drawn in favour of the “ACCOUNTS OFFICER (Exams), AIIMS-MBBS-2014”. The Bank Draft should be payable at New Delhi. Envelope containing Bank Draft should write “REQUEST FOR APPLICATION FROM FOR MBBS ENTRANCE EXAMINATION”.
b.      The Prospectus is available on AIIMS website: www.aiimsexams.org and must be read carefully by the applicants before applying.

Number of Seats & Reservation for AIIMS:

From August 2013, Six New AIIMS like Institutions viz: Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur and Bhubaneswar have been started with an intake of 100 students each except AIIMS, New Delhi.

The reservation policy followed will be
7.5% ST,
15% SC and
27% OBC
For Indian Nationals, 3% reservation for Orthopedic physically handicapped shall be provided on horizontal basis, in the seats available.

Overall 672 seats are available in all AIIMS in India.

Brief Idea about CBSE-AIPMT:
As per the final decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct an All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in several medical colleges around the country in the academic session 2014-15. It is a yearly college entrance examination in India. Presently, 15% of the total seats in all medical and dental colleges run by the Union of India, state governments, municipal, or other local authorities in India, except in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, are reserved for candidates who qualify this examination. Recently reservations for SC, ST and OBC have been undertaken in AIPMT. It is the most awaited and respected exam of the pre-medical exams.

Candidates from the States of Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh can appear in AIPMT for admission to AFMC, Pune.

Admission to Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune shall be subject to the norms prescribed by the Directorate of Armed Force medical Services, Ministry of Defence, Govt of India. Candidates who apply for AIPMT 2014 and also seeking admission in AFMC will have to apply on the website of AFMC www.afmc.nic.in/www.afmc.dg1d.gov.in. The short listed candidates will be required to appear for a second stage Screening conducted by AFMC. Candidates are advised to contact AFMC for further details. MBBS admission for 2014 will be based on All India Pre Medical Test – AIPMT 2014. Online registrations already open on www.aipmt.nic.in. Students must also apply separately to AFMC online in the month of March / April 2014. Details of application form for AFMC will be uploaded later. Please watch this space for further information.

Eligibility Criteria:
Age:
·         Minimum 17 years at the time of admission
·         Upper age limit relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST/OBC category
Academic:
·         Minimum 50% marks for General category student & 40% for SC/ST/OBC category student in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together (i.e. aggregate)
·         Students must pass Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects individually
Entrance Qualifying Criteria:
·         50th percentile for GC, 45th percentile for GC-PH and 40th percentile for SC/ ST/ OBC students in AIPMT to ensure that no seat remains unfilled.
Number of Attempts:
·         A candidate can attempt maximum of three times.

Exam Pattern:

Each question having with four options with single correct answer to be answered on the specially designed machine gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. For each correct response the candidate will get 4 (four) marks. For each incorrect response 1 (one) mark will be deducted from the total score. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked.

Admission Procedure:

How to Apply?

A candidate can apply for the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT) only on-line by logging on to www.aipmt.nic.in. Candidate should have scanned images of his latest photograph and signature in JPG format only, for uploading as part of submission of online application.

Mode of payment of fee-

·         Through Debit/Credit Card using on-line gateway payment facility, or
·         Depositing in CBSE Bank Account with Canara Bank or Syndicate Bank directly or depositing in CBSE Account with e-Post Office by downloading the Challan Form from the website of www.aipmt.nic.in.

Mode of Submission of Application Form-
1.      Log on to website www.aipmt.nic.in
2.      Go to the link “Apply On-line” and open the same.
3.      Read the instructions and procedure for on-line submission of Application Form carefully. At the end of this page, following four links to apply online are given:

a.       Fill in the on-line application form Part-I and note down the registration number.
b.      Upload images of photograph and signature in JPG format at Part-II of the application.
c.       Make payment of fee through Debit/Credit Card or download Challan for payment in the designated accounts of Canara Bank/Syndicate Bank/e-Post Office at Part III.
d.      If fee is deposited through Challan, fill in the relevant columns of on-line application form at Part-III furnishing the details of fee deposited.
e.       Take print out of Confirmation page(s) at Part IV of online application format to send to CBSE along with copy of proof of fee deposited, if fee is deposited through Challan mode.

The Application Form duly filled-in along with other documents, if any, should be sent to THE ASSISTANT SECRETARY (EXAM), AIPMT UNIT, CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION, SHIKSHA KENDRA, 2, COMMUNITY CENTRE, PREET VIHAR, DELHI - 110 092 by Registered Post/Speed Post only so as to reach positively by last date(s) of receipt of application form according to the fee paid.

The Application Form will not be received personally from candidates in any case. All other correspondence pertaining to conduct of examination shall also be made on this address.
Reservation of Seats:
Reservation will be made as per following details in 15% All India quota:
·         15% seats are reserved for SC candidates
·         7.5% seats are reserved for ST candidates
·         27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates
·         3% seats are reserved for PH candidates
