Amrita University was started by the world-renowned humanitarian leader, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma. As Chancellor of the University, Amma continues to guide the university's mission and growth. The Mata Amritanandamayi Math is the parent organization of Amrita University. The first Amrita institute for higher learning was founded in 1994. Today that institute is one among its many Schools spread over five campuses. Several notable milestones have defined this growth of the university to the multi-campus, multi-disciplinary center of learning. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a University established under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956.

Important Dates for 2013 B. Tech Entrance Examination:

1.      Date of Entrance Exam: 21st April, 2013 (Sunday) 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM

2.      Issue of Application Forms begins: 21st of December, 2012

3.      Last date of issue of Application Form: 18th of March, 2013

4.      Last date for receiving completed Applications: 20th of March, 2013

5.      Publication of Rank List: Within four weeks from the date of Exam.

Entrance Exam Pattern:

Question paper containing objective type questions in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Each question carries 3 marks. Negative mark minus one (-1) will be awarded for each wrong answer. The question booklet will be in English only. The duration of the Examination is 3 hours (10 AM to 1 PM).

Subject Combination:

Mathematics                                        -           60 Qs

Physics                                                -           30 Qs

Chemistry                                            -           30 Qs

Total No. of Questions                      -           120 Qs

Total Marks (120 x 3) = 360 marks

Eligibility Criteria:

1.      Candidate shall be born on or after 1^st July 1992.

2.      Candidate must pass in the Higher Secondary (+2) exam of a recognized Board or its equivalent, securing 60% or above marks in Mathematics, 55% or above separately in Physics and Chemistry with an aggregate of minimum 60% in the three subjects.

1.      A three year Diploma in Engineering with minimum 60 % marks, awarded by any State Board of Technical Education or its equivalent.

Note: Those who appear for the above examinations in March/ April 2013 may also apply.

Scholarship Scheme: Norms

1. Scholarship will be provided to 15% of the top ranking candidates, who passed the qualifying examination from Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and admitted in the respective campuses.
   
   
2. Scholarship amount of Rs. 50,000/- per annum will be waived from the tuition fee.
   
   
3. Award of scholarship will be governed by the rules framed for the purpose.
