1.      If the form is rejected will the chance be counted?
Ans.
No. Until and unless a student appears in the examination, no chance is counted.

2.      How can we judge the interest of a student in Medical or Engineering Stream?
Ans.

(i) The student can go through a counseling session.
(ii) If a student has an analytical bent of mind then he is apt for Engineering.                                                          (iii) At times, his marks are an indicator of his aptitude.
(iv) In case of medical aspirants, the attitude of the student should be kind and polite.

3.      The students, who pursue their 11th and 12th studies through National Open schools, are they eligible for the Medical and Engineering Entrance exams?
Ans. No. A student has to be a regular student of any central/state recognized educational institution in order to appear for the engineering and medical entrance examination.

4.      If a student pursues a 4 year programme after 10th can they apply for Medical and Engg. Entrance exams after the completion of that four year program?
Ans.
No. If a student enrolls himself in a 4 year programme after X class, then he is deemed ineligible for medical and engineering entrance tests.

5.      If a student could not attend the counseling session for a Medical college or an Engg. College due to any reason, can they request for another date or is the seat is canceled for that student?
Ans. If it’s a valid reason then they are entertained, else it’s advisable that if the student or parent is unable to attend the session they should send some representative from their side.

6.      Are there any separate seats in Medical and Engg for the students who have completed their studies from outside India?
Ans.
In govt. colleges there is no quota for NRI students. However, in private colleges, there are some seats reserved for NRI students.

7.      Are the papers re-evaluated on request for the Medical or Engineering Exams?
Ans.
No. Examination papers of Medical and Engineering entrance exams are never reevaluated or rechecked

8.      Is it necessary to stay in a hostel while pursuing MBBS or Engineering?
Ans.
No. Hostels are simply made for the convenience of students. A student can stay wherever he wishes.

9.      What should a student do if not received the Admit Card of an entrance exam?
Ans.
In such a case, a student should immediately contact the concerned office at the earliest or else the student will not be allowed to appear for the test. Nowadays the admit card is available online, so a print out can be taken.

10.  Can the student appear for the test if he/she has lost the Admit card for the entrance exam?
Ans.
If the loss of admit card is timely intimated then a duplicate one is issued. However, a student is not allowed to appear for the exam if he has lost or misplaced an admit card.

11.  In a rare situation if a student meets an accident and cannot write the test, is she/he allowed to have someone to assist in writing? If yes will the authorities provide an option or the student can arrange for someone from their own.
Ans.
In such a case, a request has to be made. The authorities will decide on the matter and if needed then will arrange for someone to write for the student.

16.  Who is a Gazetted officer?
Ans.  The Indian government officials are classified into Class A, B, C and D. The Class C and D consist of Upper division and Lower division clerks’ grade. Class A and B (contains few gazette officers) belong to the managerial class of the government services and belong to the policy formulation, policy implementation, personnel management and the like. Such officers, among other functions have also in their jurisdiction, the power to attest the documents for academic and other purposes.


FAQs for various Medical (MBBS/ BDS) Exams

1.      What are the career options after MBBS?
Ans. You can go for MD/MS in specializations like medicine, surgery, orthopedics, Pediatrics and Radiology. However, you first need to gauge your interests.

2.      What is the career scope if a student pursues MBBS from a private college?
Ans. For better job prospects a
PG course is mandatory, even if a student pursues MBBS from a private college.  The facilities for practicing provided by a private college like a large OPD base are advantageous. Also, you need to check the time duration for which the courses are being undertaken in the college. The more the number of years, the better will be the job prospects.

3.      After completing MBBS can a student go for research work or necessarily has to be a practicing doctor?
Ans. It all depends on one’s abilities and interests. A student can either go for research work or can continue as a practicing doctor.

4.      What are the options if a student wants to pursue MBBS from any other country?
Ans.
One should check for the guidelines laid down by the Medical council of India. If a college suffices the conditions mentioned, only then can a student who pursues MBBS from such colleges can practice in India. GRE scores are required for admission in colleges. Selection criteria vary from university to university. United States of America-USMLE Exam is one such exam for pursuing MBBS outside India.

5.      What are the Top Medical colleges for MBBS?
Ans.
According to surveys the top ten colleges are AIIMS-Delhi, JIPMER-Puducherry, BHU-Varanasi, Manipal-MAHE, MGIMS-Wardha, CMC-Vellore, AMU-Aligarh, AFMC-Pune, MAMC-Delhi, Grant Medical College-Mumbai, St John's Medical College-Bangalore, Madras Medical College-Chennai and Medical College & Hospital-Kolkata respectively.

6.      What are job prospects if a student pursues BDS?
Ans. There are various specializations and one can choose from Crown and Bridge dentistry, Cosmetic and Esthetic dentistry, Forensic dentistry, Community dentistry, Orthodontics, Endodontic and Oral pathology. You can jobs both in private as well as government hospitals. You can even start your own private practice.

7.      Which are the good Colleges for BDS?
Ans. According to surveys, Army College of dental sciences - Secundrabad, Gitam Dentak dental college and hospital - Vishakhapatnam, SSCDS - Hyderabad, Dr. B.R Ambedkar Institute of Medical Sciences - Patna are some of the good colleges in India for studying BDS.

8.      Is there a scope of Veterinary studies?

Ans. If a student likes animals and birds and wants to make a profession out of it then there is a lot of scope. There are many hospitals, treatment centers and wild life sanctuaries that offer employment opportunities.  They can even join the Indian Army as a doctor.

9.      In AIIMS what is the probability for admission of students in the waiting list?
Ans. The probability of such students making the cut is quite low with just 1 or 2 students getting admission in AIIMS.

10.  What is the admission process for AFMC program?
Ans. Admission to AFMC, Pune shall be subject to the norms prescribed by the Directorate of Armed Force Medical Service, Ministry of Defence Government of India in addition to the NEET-UG Rank.

11.  How to prepare for interview stage for AFMC?
Ans. One needs to be confident and answer only the questions he feels confident about. In these interviews, the questions that are asked, judge the EQ and IQ levels of a student. It is rare that they ask about the subject related topics. It is held after a student qualifies in the AFMC medical exam and is generally held in the month of June.

12.  If a student is not able to clear the medical entrance exam what are the options open for the student?
Ans. A student can venture into other specializations such as Biochemistry, Biomedical, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Pharmacist, Nutrition and Dietetics and Speech Therapist. Each of this specialization promises a good career growth.

13.  Do we have any entrance exam where there is no negative marking?
Ans.
MGIMS-Wardha, CMC-Vellore, Manipal-MAHE and JIPMER-Pudocherry medical exams do not have any negative marking in their entrance tests.

14.  Is it necessary to submit the fee during counseling for any Medical college?
Ans.
No, it is not mandatory to submit the fees on the same day as counseling as a time of 2-3 days is given for fee submission. However, a student needs to make a selection for a college on the same day itself.

15.  Supposing a student is attending counseling after admission to any Medical College and has submitted the fee, Later on gets admission in a better college through any other entrance exam, will that fee be refunded?
Ans.
Yes, the amount is refunded after following some procedures. At times a small amount may be deducted from the fee refunded.

16.  How much is the minimum amount to be deposited while counseling of various colleges?
Ans. The amount to be deposited differs from college to college.

1.      What is AIIMS Medical Entrance Exam?
Ans.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) conducts the national level MBBS entrance exam for admission to first year full time MBBS program. It also conducts B.Sc (Hons) Para Medical, Nursing and Post Certificate programs for admission to Bachelor of Nursing program in various disciplines for the commencing session 2012-13. The AIIMS MBBS entrance exam will be conducted on 1st June of every.

2. What about establishment of AIIMS?
Ans. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi was established in 1956 and also the institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament with the objects to develop patterns of teaching in Undergraduate and Post-graduate  Medical Education in all its branches so as to demonstrate a high standard of Medical Education in India; to bring together in one place educational facilities of the highest order for the training of personnel in all important branches of health activity; and to attain self-sufficiency in Post-graduate Medical Education.

3.      Who is eligible to apply for AIIMS?
 Ans. The minimum age of applicant should not be less than 17 years and not more than 23 years of age at the time of appearing the exam.  He should have passed 12th standard in the first attempt and with a minimum marks of 60% in English and 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together, from any State Higher Secondary Board or equivalent. NRI's and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) who have qualified from foreign universities will have to produce an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Those who will appear for the qualifying examination in March / April 2012 can also apply.

4.      What is the reservation criterion in AIIMS 2013?
Ans. 372 seats for MBBS (Based on AIIMS 2012 score). The distribution details are as under:

·         11 Seats for Scheduled Castes
·         05 Seats for Scheduled Tribes
·         19 Seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC)

5. What is the eligibility Criteria for AIIMS MBBS?

Ans. 10+2 or equivalent with 60% marks (50% for SC/ST) in English, Physics Chemistry and Biology. Candidates must have completed 17 years of age as on December 31 of the year of admission and above.

6. What is the paper pattern for AIIMS MBBS?
Ans. AIIMS MBBS Medical entrance exam comprises of objective type questions.
Paper is divided into 4 parts namely; Physics section consisting of 60 questions, Chemistry comprising of 60 questions, Biology (Botany and Zoology) - 60 questions and General Knowledge- 20 questions.
The exam will be of 3 hours 30 minutes duration without any break.
In total there will be 200 questions.
There will be negative marking system where 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer while 1/3 marks will be reduced for each incorrect response.

7. How to Apply for AIIMS MBBS exam?
Ans. The Prospectus-cum-application fee is Rs. 1000/- for general category candidates (Rs 800/- in case of SC/ST candidates).
Candidates can apply online by filling in the online application made available on AIIMS’s official website: www.aiimsexams.org. Candidates can pay the application fee through a challan form (downloaded from the internet while applying online) in any branch of State Bank of India.
Candidates can also obtain the application form along with the information bulletin by speed post/registered post by sending a crossed bank draft for Rs.1050/- (For General OBC / OBC candidates) and Rs.850/- (For SC/ST candidates) drawn in favor of the Accounts Officer (Exams), AIIMS-MBBS payable at New Delhi.
The request must reach the Assistant Controller of Examinations, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi -110 608 on or before the last date.
Prospectus can also be availed by hand from the Reception Counter of examination Section, AIIMS against Bank DD for Rs.1000/- (General/OBC candidates) and Rs.800/-(SC/ST candidates) drawn in favor of the Accounts Officer (Exams), AIIMS-MBBS payable at New Delhi.

8.      What was the date for AIIMS MBBS entrance exam 2012?
Ans. AIIMS MBBS entrance exam date: Friday, June 01, 2012.

9.      What is the cost of prospectus and application form?

The Prospectus-cum-Application Form costing Rs. 1000/- (Rs.800/- in case of SC/ST candidates) inclusive of examination fee.

12.  What is the Off-line Application Procedure?
Ans. The Prospectus-cum-Application Form can also be obtained by Speed Post/Registered Post by sending a written request with an account payee Bank Demand Draft of Rs.1050/- (Rs.850/- for SC/ST candidates) in favour of ACCOUNTS OFFICER (EXAMS), AIIMS payable at New Delhi. The Bank Draft should be valid up to July/August 2010. The name of the course applied for must be written on reverse of the Demand Draft alongwith candidate’s name. The request must reach the Assistant
Controller of Examinations, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi – 110 608 on or before 15.03.2010. Money Order/Cheque/Postal Order/Cash or any other form of payment will NOT be accepted for postal sale. The words “REQUEST FOR APPLICATION FORM FOR MBBS ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 2010” should be written on the envelope containing request for application form, and also on top of the request letter. The address at which Application Form is required should be written clearly in CAPITAL LETTERS with PIN code. AIIMS will not be responsible for delay in/non-receipt of Application Form caused by illegible or incomplete address. 

13.  What is the reservation criterion for students?
Ans. Each year 77 (seventy seven) seats are available for admission to the graduate medical course, leading to the award of the degree of M.B.B.S. by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. Out of these, 11 (eleven) seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes, 5 (five) seats are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes, 19 (nineteen) seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes and 5 (five) seats are reserved for the Foreign Nationals nominated by the Government of India and 37 (thirty seven) seats for General Category. For Indian Nationals, 3% reservation for orthopaedic physically handicapped shall be provided on horizontal basis, in the seats available. If requisite number of suitable candidates is not available to fill the seats reserved for the Scheduled Castes, the same are filled out of the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes and vice versa. In case suitable candidates are not available from the above two reserved categories, Orthopaedically handicapped and OBCs, the vacant seats will be filled by the candidates from the general category.

14.  What are the documents required at the time of the admission?
Ans. Candidates selected for admission to the MBBS course at the AIIMS after verification of their eligibility and offered admission/should bring the following original certificates/testimonials/documents at the time of admission:
(i) Certificate of having passed the 10+2 or equivalent examinations, showing the subject offered by him/her in the examination.
(ii) Certificate from the Board from which he/she passed the High School/Higher Secondary Examination, showing his/her date of birth.

(iii) Certificate/Mark sheet from the Board from which he/she passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination showing that he/she has secured 60% or more marks (50% in case of SC/ST/Orthopaedic Physically handicapped candidates) in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(iv) Migration Certificate from the University/Board last attended by him/her.
a) SC/ST Certificate issued by the competent authority. Community should be clearly mentioned in the certificate.
b) OBC Certificate issued by the competent authority. The sub-caste should tally with the Central list of OBC. OBC candidates should not belong to Creamy layer. OBC certificate must be in the prescribed format. 
c) Certificate from prescribed authority showing that he/she belongs to Orthopaedic Physically Handicapped Category

15.  What is the cut off for the MBBS Entrance Exam?
Ans.
The candidate belonging to General category will be required to have 50% minimum cut off marks, those belonging to OBC category will be required to have 45% minimum cut of marks and those belonging to SC/ST will have to ensure at least 40% minimum marks in the MBBS Entrance Examination. Further the position with regard to 3% OPH will be required to have 50% minimum cut of marks for General, 45% for OBC & 40% for SC/ST candidates marks the cut of marks in the Entrance Examination will be applicable to the OPH according to the category he/she belongs i.e. General/OBC/SC/ST as per latest direction of Ministry.

NEET is a single eligibility cum entrance examination namely ‘National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to MBBS/BDS courses’ in each academic year. 
AIPMT was conducted by CBSE for selection of candidates for admission to 15% seats under All India Quota.
With the introduction of NEET, the said examination will replace AIPMT and other similar Under Graduate level Medical Entrance Examinations.

Who will be conducting NEET (UG)?
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be conducting the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in the session 2013-14

If a candidate for any reason not appearing or appeared in the exam, is there any fee refund provision?
No. After submission of the application form it cannot be withdrawn. Claims for refund of application fee will not be entertained.
16.
What is the minimum and maximum age for appearing in NEET exam 2013?
i.        The minimum age of candidate is 17 years completed at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.
ii.        The upper age limit for a candidate seeking admission under 15% All India Quota seats in Government Medical Colleges through National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEETis 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the entrance examination. Further provided that this upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes.
iii.        There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing in the NEET for State Quota seats. However, admission shall be subject to the prevailing norms in each State/UT.
17.
What are the enclosures that should be attached with the confirmation page?
After submission of online application form, candidate is required to send duly completed and attested confirmation page of online application form and proof of fee paid to the CBSE.
Please refer to Rule 14 (ix) of the Information Bulletin for NEET (UG)-2013 which is available on CBSE website for details.

If mistakenly during filling of the form, wrong particulars are filled in the online form, how it will be corrected.
There will be an option for ONE TIME online correction of personal particulars of candidates. However, candidate will not be allowed to correct CHOICE OF EXAM CENTRE, LANGUAGE OF QUESTION PAPER AND CHOICE OF SEATS under any circumstances.

If a candidate passed class XII with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects from NIOS, whether he/she is eligible to appear for NEET.
Yes, if the candidate has passed class XII examination with an aggregate of 50% marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology and also passed English in the Qualifying Examination.
20.
If a student studied up to class 11th from CBSE Board from KSA/Abroad and class XII from CBSE School in India, will he/she be treated as NRI student or can she be eligible for state quota also through NEET.
Only Indian Nationals are Eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats. 
Eligibility for State Quota Seats is as per prevailing rules in the State/UT concerned.
21.
Is it compulsory to take Maths if I want to appear in NEET?
It is not necessary to offer Maths to appear in NEET.
22.
I have passed 12 class in the subjects of English, Hindi, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physical education and appeared/appearing for Biology subject from any other Board(s)/NIOS examination, will I eligible for NEET.
No. Any examination equivalent to class XII passed from a recognized Board/University comprising of physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology including practical test in these subjects and English is only eligible.

Whether score of class 12th will be given weightage to appear in NEET?
No, The minimum Eligibility criteria for NEET-UG is to pass the qualifying examinations as enumerated under clause 9.4 of Information Bulletin of NEET-UG 2013 with the minimum prescribed marks for each category of Students.

The Confirmation Page along with the proof of original fee receipt issued by the Bank/Post Office may be sent by Speed Post or registered Post only.

What is All-India quota and State quota seats?
15% seats in Government Medical Colleges filled through the Counselling conducted by DGHS are All India quota seats.
Seats filled through the counselling conducted by the State Counselling Authorities and Management Quota seats of Private Medical Colleges are under State Quota seats.

No. Admission to AIIMS and JIPMER will be through the selection processes conducted by the Institutions concerned.

Yes. Each correct answer will get 04 marks and for each incorrect response, 01 mark will be deducted from the total score.

Except AIIMS and JIPMER admission to all other Medical and Dental Colleges is expected to be based on merit positions in the NEET.

Can anyone cancel the application submitted for NEET?
Application forms once submitted cannot be cancelled.

What do the candidates need to bring to the exam centre?
i.        The candidate is required to bring his/her admit card of NEET (UG).
ii.        Candidates are advised to bring with them a card board or a clip board so that they have no difficulty in writing responses in the Answer Sheet even if the tables provided in the Examination Hall do not have smooth surface.
iii.        They will also bring their own Blue/Black Ball Point Pens of good quality. These will not be supplied by the Board.
iv.        One Post Card size (3½” x 5”) photograph.

No. candidate will leave the examination hall/room before the test concludes.
