Test Pattern of JEE (Main & Advanced)


Pattern of JEE

The admission to the undergraduate programmes at the JEE (Main & Advanced) is based on a two-tier test. The first test is called the JEE (Main) for NITs & IIITs shall be held during the month of April (both offline and online) conducted by CBSE/ MHRD. The second test, JEE (Advanced) for IITs & ISMU-Dhanbad shall be held on May (only offline) conducted by the IITs/ JEE body.  

Exam Structure of JEE (Main)-2014:
The JEE (Main) will be one test of 3 hours for B.E./ B. Tech & one test for B. Arch/ B. Planning aspirants. Paper-1 contains total 90 Multiple Choice (Objective and Assertion-Reason type with equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) Questions. Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks whereas each incorrect answer will be awarded 1/4th negative marks. Maximum mark is 360. Mode of the test is both offline and online for Paper-1 and only offline for Paper-2.

Exam Structure of JEE (Advanced)-2014:
The JEE (Advanced) consist of two papers i.e., Paper-1 & Paper-2. Duration of each paper is 3 hours. Each paper contains multiple choice objective type questions of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. Some sections may be with negative marking. Question papers will be in both English and Hindi.
