Analysis of JEE-2014
According
to the latest pattern, JEE is conducted for the admission to Undergraduate
Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs. This is a two phase exam,
the first phase JEE (Main) is designed almost on previous AIEEE Pattern.
The
second phase conducts JEE (Advanced), which is based on the eligibility
criteria set by the IITs. This phase is meant for the serious candidates who
aspire to enter the most sought after premier institutions like IITs. JEE
(Advanced) is conducted in same lines with that of IIT-JEE.

As
per Joint Apex Board of CBSE- the conducting body of JEE (Main), the number of
students registered for JEE (Main) 2014 is 13,56,805 as compared to around
14.62 lakh last year, a decline of nearly 10% in the number of applicants
appearing for the exam this year. Around 12.5 lakh students appeared for the
JEE (Main) Exam 2014 on 6th April, 2014. Out of the total applicants, around
74% were male candidates and only 26% candidates were females. The result of
JEE (Main) 2014 was published on 3rd May, 2014.

JEE (Main) All India Ranking (AIR) 2014
The
JEE (Main) All India Ranking (AIR) have been declared on 7th July, 2014 by
Central Board of Secondary Education on JEE (Main) official website:
www.jeemain.nic.in. The JEE (Main) All India Ranks will be used by central
institutes i.e. NITs, IIITs and other prestigious institutes in India. The JEE
(Main) All India Ranking 2014 were declared by combining 60% weightage of JEE
(Main) Scores and 40% weightage of Class XII results 2014. The candidates can
check their JEE (Main) All India Ranking 2014 by selecting their education
board, entering their application number and date of birth.

JEE
(Advanced) 2014 cut offs have been declared for each category and the Common
Merit List. Only candidates scoring marks above the qualifying marks for their
respected category will be able to participate in the admission counseling
process.

Candidates Qualified in JEE (Advanced)-2014
Result of JEE (Advanced) 2014 were declared on 19th June,
2014 on www.jeeadv.iitd.ac.in. Around
1.26 lakh candidates registered for the JEE (Advanced) 2014 examination with a
total of 27,151 candidates passing the examination. Approximately 21% of the
candidates passed the exam.
From the 27,151 qualified candidates, 19,416 candidates are
from the common merit list, 6,000 candidates are on the OBC (NCL) merit list,
4,400 candidates are on the SC merit list and 1,250 candidates are on the ST
merit list, 432 and 90 respectively made it without score relaxation. A total of 41 candidates have been enlisted
for the year-long preparatory course, a bridge programme to bring weaker
students to speed. Those candidates, who did not submit their category
certificates by 31st May, 2014 have been counted in the Common Merit List.
Because of non-availability of results from Boards listed
in numbers 35, 36, 39, 82, 83 and 99, candidates from these Boards will be
eligible for admission only if their aggregate marks in percentage are equal to
or higher than the cut off declared for CBSE as per JEE (Advanced) – 2014
eligibility criteria. (GE-83.2%, OBC-NCL – 82.0%, SC – 74% and ST – 73.2%)
In all, the 15 IITs, the Indian
Institute of Technology Benares Hindu University (IIT-BHU), Varanasi and the
Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad have 9,784
seats, which have been apportioned as 4,884 for the general category, 2,669
for candidates from the other backward castes category, 1,483 for scheduled
caste candidates and 741 for candidates from the scheduled tribes.
Not
all who qualify get a berth at these institutes but, a part of the extended
merit list get a chance for admissions only when the top scorers drop off the
list.
