Q1. If a candidate has passed in 2014 and has appeared for
improvement in 2015, what he will fill in the academic details section.
Answer
1.
Such candidates have to decide as to which percentage of marks i.e. 2014 or
2015 is better and accordingly, they have to select the year and corresponding
roll number in the first step of application form of JEE (Main) – 2016.
Further, the candidates
who have passed class 12th in 2015 and appearing in improvement examination of
class 12th in 2016, may fill the form in either of the following methods:-
(a) Select the year of
passing class 12th as 2015 and enter the roll number, name of the board in the
first step of the application form. In the second step of application form,
select ‘yes’ in the column – appearing for improvement examination.
or
(b) Select the year of
appearing class 12th as 2016 and fill the remaining form correctly.
After declaration of result
of improvement examination, there will be option on the website to provide the
correct roll number of class 12 in which candidate’s result is better.
Q2. Which thumb impression should be used while filling JEE-Main
2016 form? What if a candidate has no thumb?

As per Page No 16 of Information Bulletin, the scanned image of left hand thumb
impression (right hand thumb in case the candidate do not have left hand thumb
or any finger if both thumbs are not there) is to be uploaded during online
submission of application form of JEE (Main) - 2016. However, if a candidate
has uploaded right hand thumb impression (by mistake), he/she need not to worry
because the form will not be cancelled because of this mistake and he/she will
be issued admit card for appearing in JEE (Main) – 2016 as usual.
Q3. In case photograph is not having name and date, would the
form be rejected?

Name of the candidate and date on which the photograph is taken is to be
mentioned on the photograph, but in case uploaded photograph does not have name
and date, the form will not be rejected and no correction is required in such a
case and he/she will be issued admit card for appearing in JEE (Main) – 2016 as
usual.
Q4. How will an NRI or a foreign student enter his/her mobile
number?

Such candidates should enter the mobile number of his/her relative residing in
India.
Q5. Will a candidate have a choice to change the mode of
examination?
Answer

Yes, but a candidate can change mode of examination from pen & paper
examination to computer based examination.
Q6. What mistakes can be corrected during month of January 2016
when the corrections will be allowed by the Board?

The correction in particulars can be done only if the candidates have paid the
fee and completed all the steps of online application form of JEE (Main) –
2016. The candidates can modify all the particulars (except change of
examination center and change of mode of examination from computer based to pen
paper based examination) of his/her application form during the facility of
correction in the 2nd fort night of January, 2016. The balance fee, if any due
to correction in particulars, will have to be paid by the candidates during
that period.
Q7. When the candidates appearing in class 12th examination in
2016 or improvement examination in 2016 will enter their roll number of class
12th?

The roll number data of class 12th examination of 2016 is being collected from
all the boards and it will be linked on the website of JEE (Main). The
candidates at the time of downloading their admit cards of JEE (Main) – 2016
will have to enter their roll number of class 12th which will be verified with
the data received from the concerned board and thereafter it will be updated in
the database. In case, the roll number of class 12th of any particular
candidate(s) is not provided by the concerned board, such candidates will not
be able to download his/her admit card of JEE (Main) – 2016. The candidates
appearing in improvement examination of class 12th in 2016 will get a chance in
the last week of May or 1st week of June, 2016 to confirm as to which
result/roll number of class 12th (i.e. of the year 2015 or 2016)
they want to get considered for calculation of All India Rank of JEE (Main) –
2016.
Q8. While paying the fee, what a candidate can do in case of
failed transaction?

If the payment status of online transaction (by credit/debit card) is not
communicated by payment gateway in real time then fee payment is not completed.
In this case, the candidates are required to pay the fees again either through
online transaction or by e-challan and to download the acknowledgement page.
Your amount of failed transaction of credit/debit card will be refunded back
within 7 to 10 days.
In case, fee payment is
made through e-challan and the fee is not updated on the website, the candidate
has to contact the concerned bank/branch for updation of fee. However, such
candidates may also send the copy of paid e-challan through e-mail on jeemain@nic.in.
Q9. What is the Eligibility for private candidates?

As per Page No 12: 2.9.2 of Prospectus –

Year of Appearance in Qualifying
Examination (QE), only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam
or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2014 or 2015; or those who are
appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in
2016 are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) - 2016.

Candidates who passed Class
12th/Qualifying examination in 2013 or before as well as those who will appear
in such examination in 2016 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE
(Main)-2016.

Candidates who appeared in class
12th/equivalent Qualifying Examinations in 2013, did not pass in 2013, but
passed in 2014 are also not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2016.
·
This criterion is applicable for both
private and regular candidates. Private candidate can fill ‘xxx’ against the
school name column.
Q10. In case a student fails to book his session for online
examination after paying the fees, how will he know about the date and session
of the examination?

If a candidate does not make any selection, he/she shall be randomly assigned a
slot/date as per the availability of the same as per page no.11 of information
bulletin. Details of session and slot will be given on the admit card which can
be downloaded from 2nd Week of March 2016.
Q11. There is no provision for students wishing to appear for
both the exams at different centers i.e. Paper -1 be Computer based and Paper
-2 being Pen and Paper based?

Since Paper-2 is only in offline mode, a student who is appearing for both the
papers, paper 1 being online mode and paper 2 being offline mode will only get
such centers that have facility for both the modes of examination. For example:
Test centers for this could be PATNA: PEN & PAPER BASED and COMPUTER BASED.
Kindly refer to appendix 2 of information bulletin. Two different roll no and separate
admit cards cannot be issued to a candidate to appear at different centres for
paper 1 and 2 separately.
Q12. What is Eligibility for Diploma Students in JEE-Main 2016?

Yes, to appear in JEE (Advanced) a diploma holder can apply in JEE (Main) 2016
but his/her rank and score for JEE (Main) will not be declared as diploma
holders cannot apply for admission in NITs and CFTIs through JEE (Main)
channel.
Q13. Name of the boards recognized under Association of Indian
Universities.
Q14. What are HSC vocational courses?
Answer

Different states can have different HSC vocational courses, so students of
different states will have to verify it from their particular state.
Q15. Whether the Hindi Medium paper will come in both the
languages?
Answer

Yes, Hindi medium paper will be bilingual in English and Hindi medium.
