Examination:
Indian School of Mines (ISM) was established by the Government of India in 1926 on the pattern of Royal School of Mines, London to teach Mining Engineering and Applied Geology and thus provide manpower to the Indian minerals industry and the concerned departments of the Government. Subsequently in 1958, Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics were also taken up. In due recognition of its vital role in the service of the mineral exploration and mining sectors of the national economy, the School was granted autonomy by the Government of India in 1967.

The school is situated at a distance of about 3 km to the north
of Dhanbad Railway Station on the Grand Chord of Eastern Railway. The serene
campus, which covers an area of about 88 hectares, comprises academic
buildings, student hostels and faculty and staff quarters as also other
infrastructural facilities for a cosmopolitan community. The locational
advantage of ISM at Dhanbad is that it is situated at the core of the
industrial base of the region covering various minerals including coal.
ISM had been admitting students to the B.Tech and M.Sc Tech
programmes through an Entrance Examination on All-India basis, since its
inception. Since 1997, ISM has been with the IIT JEE system and has been
admitting students to B Tech programmes through the JEE conducted by IITs.
ISM offers admission
to the B.Tech. (4-Year), M.Tech. Dual
Degree (5-Year) and Integrated M.Sc. / M.Sc. Tech (5-Year) programmes through
IIT JEE examination.
Change of Branch Rules:
Change of branch will be considered at the end of II Semester, based
on the performance in I & II Semester Examinations. Interested students may
submit such application within three days of the start of new academic session.
Details of Fees (in
Rupees) - ISM Dhanbad:
Scholarship: 25% of students are provided with ISM
scholarship and free tuition fees in addition to a large number of scholarships
by outside agencies.
Hostel Facilities: ISM being a residential institute provides
hostel facilities to its students. There are five boys’ hostel and three girls’
hostel. Hostels are provided with important facilities like – P&T
telephone, internet connection, gymnasium, and common room with T.V, music
system, newspapers magazines etc. Each hostel has mess run by students and in
addition there is a canteen near to the hostel. State Bank of India and Post
Office are within the campus which is near to hostels.
Medical Facility: A well served Health Centre within the
campus takes care of the students. In addition to one Senior Medical Officer
and one Lady Medical Officer there are various part time specialists attached
to it. In case of emergency students are referred to Central Hospital of Dhanbad.
The B Tech graduates
get jobs in mineral, coal, petroleum, electronic and manufacturing industries,
Hardware/Software and IT Companies, through campus interviews. ISM is proud of
its alumni. Traditionally, ISM alumni are holding top positions in all spheres
of mineral, coal and petroleum industries. They are also holding top positions
in government offices connected with mineral, coal and petroleum.

passed.

JEE admit card, this admission offer letter and other documents, if any, in

Four copies of your
passport size photographs as given in JEE-2005 application and ten copies of
stamp size photographs.

Latest PA view X-ray
of Chest with proper identification mark, Report on Hb, TC, Dc, ESR of Blood
& Blood Group for medical examination.
