Some Important Information
for AIIMS Exam-2016
As per the initiative taken by
Director, AIIMS, New Delhi, it has been decided to conduct the competitive
Entrance Examination of MBBS-2016 through a Computer Based Test (CBT) [Online]
only in 2016.
•
The examination shall be held on Sunday, 29 May 2016.
•
The duration of the examination
shall be 3 ½ hours (three hours and thirty minutes).
•
The
Online (CBT) Entrance Examination will be conducted in two shifts:
o
Morning
Shift / First shift: 09:00 AM to 12:30 PM
o
Afternoon
Shift / Second shift: 03:00 PM to 06:30 PM
•
The examination centres are
tentatively proposed in 154 cities all over India.
•
The Reporting Time for 1st shift is
7:00 AM and for 2nd shift is 01:00 PM.
•
No candidate will be allowed entry
in the examination centre after 8:45 AM in 1st shift and 2:45 PM in 2nd shift.
•
No candidate will be allowed to
leave the examination hall before the end of 31⁄2 hours.
•
No candidate will be allowed to
enter the Examination Hall without a valid Admit Card and ID proof and one
photograph.

Eligibility Criteria for AIIMS:
1. Nationality: He/ She should be a Citizen of
India.
2.
Age:
The candidate should have attained the age of 17 (seventeen) years as on 31st
December of the year of admission and above.
3.
Qualifying
Exam: Candidates should have passed 12th Class examination under
10+2 Scheme or an equivalent examination of a recognized Board with ENGLISH,
PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY.
4. Subjects (aggregate):
Candidates who have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in 4 subjects
of ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY are eligible for AIIMS test. For SC/ST/OPH candidates 50% marks in aggregate of ENGLISH,
PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY.
Pattern
of AIIMS Examination:
1. The
AIIMS Entrance Examination for MBBS course will have one paper consisting of
200 objective type (multiple choice and reason-assertion type) questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General
Knowledge.
2. Entrance
Exam will be of 3½ hours duration.
3. Each
correct response will get a score of 1 mark and No credit will be given for the
questions not answered.
4. Each
incorrect response will get a score of -1/3 (minus-one-third) negative marking
and More than one response will be treated as wrong answer and negatively
marked.
5. Question
paper will be provided either in English or in Hindi according to the choice of
candidates.
6. Candidates should NOT bring
pen/pencil to the Examination Hall as the same will be provided by AIIMS at the
examination centre for writing/marking responses on (OMR) answer sheet.
Number of Seats
& Reservation
In
the six new AIIMS (viz: Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and
Rishikesh,) with intake of 100 students each, the reservation policy followed
will be 7.5% ST, 15% SC and 27% OBC, for Indian Nationals. A 3% reservation for
Orthopaedic Physically Handicapped shall be provided on horizontal basis, in
the seats available.

AIIMS in Brief:
The
dreams of Jawaharlal Nehru and Amrit Kaur and the recommendations of the Bhore
Committee converged to create a proposal which found favor with a
generous grant from New Zealand under the Colombo Plan made it possible to
lay the foundation stone of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in
1952. The AIIMS was finally created in 1956, as an autonomous institution
through an Act of Parliament. The institute aims at providing
high standard of medical education and is an institution of national importance.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was finally established in 1956 and it conducted entrance test for the admission of students to the MBBS/BDS courses. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences shall last for a minimum of 5½ academic years including one year's compulsory internship. The AIIMS, New Delhi is a residential University in which the faculty members, staff and the students live on campus. There are 8 hostels for undergraduate students (6 for boys and 2 for girls) with a capacity to accommodate 850 students.
