IIST – 2014
(B.Tech Admission 2014)

Candidates who are desirous to join B.Tech Programmes in IIST must appear for the JEE (Main)-2014 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi to qualify themselves to appear for JEE (Advanced)-2014 conducted by IITs.

About Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology:

IIST is Asia's first Space Institute and the first in the world to offer the complete range of undergraduate, post graduate, doctoral programmes with specific focus to space science, technology and applications. This unique concept took root in January 2007, when IIST was registered as a Society under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955. IIST received the approval of the Union Cabinet on 26 April, 2007 and it was formally inaugurated on 14 September 2007 by Dr. G. Madhavan Nair. 

Courses:

IIST offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) programmes in three branches, namely
(i) Aerospace Engineering
(ii) Avionics and
(iii) Physical sciences

Detailed IIST B.Tech Admission Brochure containing Application and Counselling procedures with important dates will be published in April, 2014.

The last Date for JEE (Main)2014 application: 26th Dec, 2013
The last Date for JEE (Advanced)2014 application: 9th May, 2014



Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates who are desirous to join B.Tech Programmes in IIST must appear for the JEE (Main)-2014 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi to qualify themselves to appear for Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced)-2014 conducted by IITs and secure the minimum prescribed category-wise marks in JEE (Advanced)-2014 as given below:-
(a)    General Candidates (GEN): At least 20% marks in aggregate and at least 5% marks in each of the three subjects (Physics Chemistry and Mathematics).
(b)   Other Backward Community – Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) Candidates: At least 18% marks in aggregate and at least 4.5% marks in each of the three subjects (Physics Chemistry and Mathematics).
(c)    Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) & Persons with Disabilities (PD) Candidates: At least 10% marks in aggregate and at least 2.5% marks in each of the three subjects (Physics Chemistry and Mathematics).

Exam Pattern:

Same as JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced).

IIST Admission Rank List
CBSE prepares All-India rank list giving 60% weightage to the score in JEE (Main) examination and 40% weightage to the normalized score in Class 12th qualifying examination and is expected to be published by07th July 2014

Admission Procedure:

Undergraduate programmes (B.Tech) for the year 2014 will be based on the All India Rank list (including category rank list)

The Demand Draft for the amount mentioned above should be drawn in favour of “THE REGISTRAR, IIST” payable at THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, INDIA
Candidates are requested to write the Name and Registration Number on the back side of the Demand Draft (DD) and send to “The Chairman, B.Tech. Admissions-2014, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Valiamala (P.O.), Thiruvananthapuram-695547 Kerala”, India

Reservation/Number of Seats:
The total number of seats for the B.Tech Programmes in IIST for the academic year 2014-15 is 156.

The seat matrix for different programmes is as follows:

·         B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering: 60
·         B.Tech. in Avionics: 60
·         B.Tech. in Physical Sciences: 36
